Android TV gets update with Google TV-like interface
Google comes with an update for current Android TV devices. The company provides the OS with a new interface, which is based on the Google TV operating system of the new Chromecast. The update is currently being rolled out in phases.
The new interface will be divided into three pages, writes The Verge. The Home page is similar to the current Android TV interface. This page shows users’ ‘favourite apps’ and available content from different channels, although the layout will be modified. The Apps page contains an overview of all installed pages, as the name suggests.
The Discover page is new and shows personalized recommendations for movies and series, as well as content that is frequently viewed by other users. This is similar to the For You page introduced in Google TV, the OS used for the new Chromecast. The update is now rolling out to Android TV devices in the US, Australia, Germany, France and Canada. The update should be released in other countries “in the coming weeks.”
