Android M gives users more privacy settings for apps
Android M, expected to be announced at the end of this month, will give users more control over their privacy. Bloomberg reports that. Users can choose for themselves what apps have access to, according to the financial news agency.
Currently, Android users can only see what an app could access when installing an app, but in Android M, for example, users should also be able to set whether an app can access a user’s location, contacts or photos. Bloomberg reports that.
Android also had a debug menu for a short time in which the permissions could be set per app, but that has disappeared. In addition, developers have created their own tools to improve the privacy of Android users, such as the XPrivacy module for the Xposed framework, which allows to set permissions on a per-app basis.
The new functionality would be integrated into Android M, which is likely to be announced at the Google I/O conference in San Francisco at the end of this month. It is not yet known which functionality Android M will receive.
