Android gets ‘dev channel’ Google Chrome
Google is opening the Chrome on Android dev channel to the public through the Play Store. This is the second-earliest test version of Chrome for Android and will allow developers to test their sites on this future release of Chrome.
The dev version is updated at least once a week. The dev version can be in the Play Store downloaded. This version should not be confused with the beta version, which has been in the Play Store for some time. Developer versions were already available for Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS. The Canary release, the very earliest test version of Chrome, is not yet available for Android.
Google warns on his Chromium blog that “life on the Dev channel can be wild at times.” The dev version of Chrome on Android can therefore be installed alongside other Chrome versions. The version can be used by developers, among other things, to check whether websites are compatible with future Chrome versions. New features from future Chrome versions can also be tested.
At first glance, the developer version offers little new functionality. What is new is the possibility to block images on certain sites. Javascript and pop-ups could already be blocked for some time.
