Android 7 update Mate 8 smartphone appears on servers Huawei
The update to Android Nougat for the Huawei Mate 8 smartphone can be downloaded from servers of Huawei. The manufacturer is not pushing the update to devices yet, but users have already found a way to install it.
The update includes many of the features that the Mate 9 also has. Huawei presented the Mate 9 two weeks ago and will release it next week. With the update, last year’s Mate 8 gets an option for an app drawer, a split-screen mode and a new notification panel that looks more like stock Android.
The update is ready on Huawei servers and XDA forum users have found a way to install it. To do this, users will need to unlock the bootloader, install an alternative recovery, and make changes to the build.prop file, then install the update.
It is unknown when Huawei will release the update for the Mate 8 to Android 7.0, but that is probably after the release of the Mate 9 next week. The Chinese manufacturer has not yet announced the update.
