OnePlus wants to release an Android Nougat update for the OnePlus 3 before the end of the year.

Nothing is known yet about whether OnePlus will add new features to the OnePlus 3 in addition to the standard features in Android 7 and whether the update makes the phone compatible with Google’s VR platform Daydream, for example. OnePlus will also update the OnePlus 2, Engadget writes, but it is not known when that will happen. The manufacturer says nothing about the OnePlus X from last year, which only received the Android 6 update a few months ago.

Some time ago, the Chinese smartphone maker merged its software teams for its Android skins OxygenOS and HydrogenOS to enable faster updates. Evil tongues also claimed that the manufacturer had no other choice, because many developers had left the company.

The OnePlus 3 came out this summer and the manufacturer will probably reveal a modified version of the phone next week. Compared to the 3, the OnePlus 3T exchanges the Snapdragon 820 for an 821. Other changes are less certain, but it would include a different camera and the price of the device would be higher.
