Android 6.0 update causes wifi problems with original Nvidia Shield tablet
Nvidia has started shipping an over the air update to Android 6.0 for the original Shield Tablet this week. After it was discovered that some users can no longer connect to Wi-Fi networks, the ota update has been temporarily stopped.
An Nvidia customer service representative tells the GeForce forum that Nvidia has stopped sending the update to Android 6.0. Some users may not be able to connect to Wi-Fi networks after installing the update. The employee calls on users who experience the problem to restart their tablet two to three times and if that fails to perform a power cycle three to four times by switching the tablet completely off and on again.
The issues arise with the update of the original Nvidia Shield Tablet, which hit the market in 2014. It is not about the Shield Tablet K1, which Nvidia recently released and for which the update to Android 6.0 appeared in December 2015. The two tablets are virtually identical; the new model was released after Nvidia had to recall the old tablets due to an incendiary battery.
