Android 12 gets new interface with themes of wallpaper
Google has released more details about Android 12 at its own developer conference I/O. The next version of the mobile operating system will include personalized themes based on, for example, the wallpaper.
After choosing a wallpaper, the system chooses which accent colors should appear in the menus, toggles and buttons based on the colors that are visible in it. That design is called Material You and should later also come to other Google products and services, such as smart speakers with screens and web interfaces.
In addition, Android with version 12 should be faster. Assistant can now be called up with a long press on the Power button. That still calls up the Power Off menu. It is unknown how that will go after the upgrade to Android 12. Android 12 will get a privacy dashboard, with information about when which app used certain functions. There is also an indicator if an app has used the microphone or camera.
Android 12 should work better with other devices running a Google operating system. For example, on Android TV, users should be able to use the phone as a remote control and give text input via the phone’s keyboard.
The first public beta for Android 12 will be released on Tuesday. Users can get the beta on their device through the Android beta site. The beta will be available for phones from 11 manufacturers: ASUS, Google, OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Sharp, Tecno, TCL, ZTE and Xiaomi. The first developer preview of Android 12 came out three months ago.
