OnePlus has version 11 of its own OxygenOS operating system ready for users of the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro smartphones. This brings Android 11 to these smartphones that came out in the fall of 2019.

On its forums, OnePlus reports that it is ready to release version 11 of OxygenOS and that the ota upgrade will be released in phases. Only a limited number of users will be able to download the update on Monday. In the coming days, the manufacturer says it will make the upgrade more widely available, if it is determined that no critical bugs are present.

The always-on display feature is not yet included in the release version of OxygenOS 11 for the OnePlus 7T models. It is still being tested in the Open Beta builds. A year ago it became clear that OnePlus was working on an always-on display for its phones.

Actually, the Android 11 upgrade should have been released in December last year. However, that was postponed, when a problem in the software was discovered when decrypting data. The problem was in the HydrogenOS version of the Android software, which OnePlus uses in China instead of OxygenOS. This is basically the same as OxygenOS, but without Google Play Services, so it’s not used in Europe. Probably due to the significant overlap in the underlying code, the release of the Android 11 upgrade for the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro was also temporarily suspended outside of China.
