Analysts: PC market grew again in recent months
The market for desktops and laptops has grown again in recent months. That’s what analysts Gartner and IDC claim. The growth, they say, comes from the approaching end of support for Windows 7 and improvements in Intel processor shipments.
Companies are in the process of migrating PCs to Windows 10 due to the impending shutdown of Windows 7, Gartner and IDC say. Partly because of this, the growth was in desktops and not in laptops. According to Gartner, growth was 1.5 percent, IDC keeps it at 4.7 percent.
Intel is also better able to meet the demand for its processors, allowing manufacturers to supply more computers. In addition, Lenovo has already delivered many PCs because of the import tax on Chinese electronics, claims IDC. Gartner has not observed any effect of this. Lenovo is the market leader, according to both analysts, with HP and Dell behind it. The PC market showed a contraction last quarter.
