Apple may be working on a 15″ model of its MacBook Air. Analyst firm Display Supply Chain Consultants reports this in its quarterly report. The well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo endorses that message.
Apple to release its new 15-inch MacBook Air next year, DSCC reports in its quarterly reportWhich has been seen by 9to5Mac. This larger variant would be available alongside a MacBook Air with 13″ screen. According to DSCC, Apple will also slightly increase the screen of that smaller variant, although the panel would still have a diagonal between 13″ and 14″. also that the iPad entry-level model will get a ‘slightly larger’ screen next year.
TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is known for reporting on Apple, endorses DSCC’s report. Kuo writes on Twitter that mass production of the 15″ MacBook Air will begin in the fourth quarter of 2023. The 15″ variant would also use a 30W power adapter, despite the higher consumption of the larger screen. Kuo also suggests that Apple might not call the 15-inch laptop a MacBook Air. It’s not clear what the product name would be.
It’s not the first time a 15″ MacBook Air has been mentioned. In internal emails from Steve Jobs, which were published during the lawsuit between Apple and Epic Games, it was mentioned that the company was considering such a laptop in 2008. Two years later, the company released a MacBook Air, but it had an 11-inch screen. Bloomberg wrote in January 2021 that Apple had once again considered a 15-inch MacBook Air, but decided against it at the time.
