Analyst: Samsung makes Galaxy S7 cheaper than Galaxy S6
Samsung wants the Galaxy S7 at release 10 percent cheaper than the Galaxy S6 was. Due to the lower price, the manufacturer hopes to sell more devices. The Galaxy S6 came out last spring for a price of 699 euros.
With the price reduction of 10 percent, the price in the Benelux would be around 630 euros, with which Samsung would dive below the recommended prices of the top devices from competitors such as LG, Huawei and Sony this year. The gap with Apple, which sells the iPhone from 749 euros, would become a lot bigger.
The prediction comes from the Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang, who expresses the expectation to the Times of India. Earlier this year, Jiutang correctly predicted the specs of the Huawei-made Nexus 6P and Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, among others, making its predictions seem relatively reliable.
The price reduction is also not illogical, because Samsung itself lowered the suggested retail price of the Galaxy S6 at the end of the summer from 699 to 599 euros. A price reduction goes against the trend of recent years of increasingly expensive high-end smartphones.
There have been rumors about the suspected Galaxy S7 for several months, but so far few concrete-looking details and reliable images have appeared online of the device.
