The next models of Apple’s MacBook Pro laptops will arrive in 2024 and will receive M3 Pro and M3 Max socs, TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims. Apple coincidentally announced new MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max socs on Tuesday.

The following MacBook Pro laptop models will enter mass production in the first six months of next year, expect Ming-Chi Kuo. He assumes they will have either the M3 Pro or the M3 Max baked at 3nm. The M3 socs mentioned will be produced on the basis of TSMC’s N3P or N3S process, Kuo expects. N3P is a process for economical chips and N3S is a variant of this for higher density and potentially smaller chips.

The mentioned M3 Pro and M3 Max should be the successors to the M2 Pro or M2 Max socs that are in the latest models of the MacBook Pro laptops announced on Tuesday. Apple states that the new M2 SOCs have a 40 percent faster Neural Engine with 16 cores, compared to previous Apple SOCs. The M2 Pro has 40 billion transistors; that’s 20 percent more than the M1 Pro and twice the number in the regular M2.

Further expects Kuo that the next Mac mini will also be out in 2024 and not get a redesign. The analyst does not say anything about the processors or specifications of these 2024 models. Apple also announced updated Mac mini models on Tuesday that are equipped with the standard M2 soc or the faster and also new M2 Pro.
