Xiaomi has lost significant market share in the wearables market in 2022. This was calculated by analyst firm Canalys. The manufacturer estimated that it delivered 17 million wearables, compared to 29 million in 2021. That is a decrease of 41 percent.

Xiaomi was therefore the one that lost the most among the major manufacturers, claims Canalys. Xiaomi sold many fitness trackers in recent years, such as its Mi Band series. Google, which includes deliveries from subsidiary Fitbit, also lost market share and delivered 11.8 million wearables during the year. Huawei delivered 21 percent fewer wearables and delivered 15.2 million wearables.

Apple remains the market leader and delivered 41.4 million units of its smartwatches, the analyst firm said. This made it the only major manufacturer to grow and take a greater lead over the competition.

The fact that Xiaomi and Google lost significantly is mainly due to the decline in sales of straps. It fell by 39 percent. Smartwatches as a category grew slightly and shipments of basic connected watches grew 21 percent, mainly due to popularity in India. These trends are turning, because the entire wearables market declined in the last months of the year.
