AMS-IX has a malfunction again – update
Internet node AMS-IX is having another outage. That was also the case on Wednesday evening. It is unknown how that is possible.
AMS-IX says that the problem arose at 9:40 am and it shows in statistics. There was also an outage on Wednesday evening and it lasted from about 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. According to the internet exchange, this was due to traffic for the Resource Reservation Protocol, which affected the management of the Extreme switch. The solution on Wednesday evening was to place a rate limiter between the Extreme switch and PE switch. AMS-IX says nothing about the cause of the current outage or how long it will last. Even now, traffic at the junction is about a quarter of normal. Where this is normally around 8Tbit/s, it is now 2Tbit/s.
Updated, 1:37 p.m: The outage seems to be over.
AMS-IX has second outage in two days (November 2023).
