AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution, a feature to increase framerates in games, will be available on June 22. Then there will be seven games that can use it immediately, including Godfall and Anno 1800. That is what Videocardz says based on multiple sources.
Videocardz shows a list of the games that already have support as of June 22 and a list of twelve games that will offer this support in the short term. It is unknown when those twelve games will come with support. These include DOTA 2, FarCry 6 and Resident Evil Village. Videocardz relies on multiple sources for this, including Twitter user Broly_X1 or vegeta, who has already correctly predicted AMD releases before.
AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution, abbreviated as FSR, is the counterpart of Nvidia’s DLSS. It is a feature that will be available to video card owners from June 22 via a driver update . Unlike DLSS, which is only available for Nvidia’s GeForce RTX cards, FSR is not only available for AMD GPUs. The technology works in combination with video cards from the Radeon RX 6000, RX 5000, RX 500 and RX 400 series, all Vega video cards and all Ryzen apus. The technique also works with other video cards, such as those from Nvidia, although this does not concern official support.
Previously, AMD showed FSR with an RX 6800 XT video card and the game Godfall in a 4k resolution with the graphics Epic setting and ray tracing enabled. Without using FSR, that yielded an average of 49 fps. With FSR at the highest quality, that went up to 78fps and in the fastest Performance mode, it hit 150fps. In addition to a supported video card, it is also necessary that games are adapted to make use of the spatial upscaling technology.
