AMD will probably announce new CPUs and GPUs at the CES fair in early 2021

AMD will hold a keynote at CES in early 2021, including a portfolio of high-performance computing and graphics solutions will be discussed. AMD’s CEO Lisa will hold the keynote and will then probably announce new CPUs and GPUs.

The organization behind the CES reports that Lisa Su, among others, will give a keynote during the CES 2021, which will take place completely digitally from 11 to 14 January. According to the announcement, Su will provide AMD’s vision for the future of research, education, work, entertainment and gaming and a portfolio of high-performance computing and graphics solutions offer. Su says she looks forward to sharing ‘exciting new technology developments’ at CES 2021 and ‘what that will mean for the way we live, work, learn and play’.

Further details are not given, but partly in view of the terms used in the portfolio, it is obvious that AMD will announce new processors and video cards. It is not known what kind of products it will be, but it could be, for example, new Ryzen or Threadripper CPUs and new video cards based on the RDNA 2 architecture.

It is already clear that AMD will present its new Zen 3 processors on October 8 and the Big Navi graphics cards on October 28. However, it could be that the manufacturer will not yet unfold all plans and products within the RX 6000 video card series and that some of them will not be discussed until early next year during the keynote at CES.

AMD has used the CES keynote for the introduction of new consumer hardware in recent years. In 2020, the Ryzen 4000 laptop processors were announced at the show and a year earlier AMD introduced the Radeon VII GPU and gave the company a taste of the Ryzen 3000 processors.
