AMD to introduce slightly faster Brazos 2.0 APU at the end of this year
AMD is said to be expanding the Brazos 2.0 platform with a new apu at the end of this year. This E2-2000 will replace the just-released E2-1800 as the fastest Brazos apu and bring some minor speed increases.
Last month, AMD introduced Brazos 2.0, the successor to Brazos, a fuel-efficient platform for affordable mainstream notebooks, mini laptops, ultraportables and small desktop systems. The platform debuted with the E1-1200 and the E2-1800. According to Fudzilla the E2-2000 will be added at the end of this year.
The CPU part of the E2-2000 will be clocked at 1.75GHz, which is a fraction faster than the 1.7GHz of the E2-1800. For the GPU part, the Radeon HD 7340 will again be used, which can now reach a maximum of 700MHz instead of the 680MHz of its predecessor. According to AMD, the small boost will not affect the APU’s power consumption and will maintain its TDP of 18W. Furthermore, the design remains unchanged and the cpu part will consist of 2 Zacate cores with 1MB L2 cache and the gpu part will cover 80 cores.

The apu is still produced according to a 40nm process. The Brazos platform is likely to be succeeded by a new Fusion apu in 2013. This chip is codenamed Kabini and is baked at 28nm.
