AMD temporarily disables Anti-Lag+ and wants to help unfairly banned players
AMD releases the Adrenalin Edition 23.10.2 driver which disables Anti-Lag+ by default. The feature would be flagged as a cheat by some anti-cheat systems. The company says it is in discussions with developers to lift previous bans due to Anti-Lag+.
The driver will disable Anti-Lag+ for all games that support this technology and AMD recommends that all eligible users install the latest driver. Anti-Lag+ is a function that is currently only available in combination with Radeon RX 7000 video cards and should lead to reduced latency. DLL game files are modified for this purpose, which is considered cheating by some anti-cheating software. For example, last week it was revealed that Valves anti-cheat software would work if Anti-Lag+ is used in combination with Counter-Strike 2.
AMD says it is in discussions with game developers to make the function available again without anti-cheating software labeling it as cheating. At the same time, the companies are looking at how the bans of recently banned gamers can be reversed. earlier Valve said that it will wait for an update from AMD and then discuss reversing bans.
In addition to disabling Anti-Lag+, the driver introduces game support for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, The Lords of the Fallen and Forza Motorsport. A number of fixes have also been made, including fixes for Counter-Strike 2 performance issues, FC24 crashes, and video file playback issues. The driver is available for Radeon RX 5000, 6000 and 7000 series, and 5000M and 6000M series video cards.
