AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D outperforms Intel Core i9 13900K by 5.6 percent

The Spanish tech website HDTecnologia has been able to view test results from AMD showing that a Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU is on average 5.6 percent faster in games than an Intel Core i9 13900K. Both computer systems had a Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU.

It appears from the documents that the PCs with which AMD conducted the test had 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory on board, and a Samsung 980 Pro SSD with 1TB of storage space. The test included 22 games running at 1080p resolution. The list includes game titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, F1 2021, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Horizon Zero Dawn. It’s not clear what graphics settings were applied to each of these games.

The Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU was also tested in combination with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU. In the same test, the AMD CPU outperformed the Intel Core i9 13900K with the RTX 4090 on average by 6 percent. The 7950X3D would also perform 16 percent better in games versus the regular AMD 7950 X CPU that lacks 3D V-Cache memory has.

AMD’s documentation also contained some other benchmark results that give an impression of the performance of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. The CPU would deliver a better result in 7Zip and DolphinBeach than the Core i9 13900K. In CineBench R23 and Geekbench, the Intel CPU performed better.

The Ryzen 9 7950X3D desktop processor is based on the Zen 4 architecture and features stacked 3D V-Cache on top of the CPU chipset to supplement the existing cache memory. The 7950X3D has a total of 144MB cache and a TDP of 120W. The 7950X3D will be available on February 28 and has a suggested retail price of $699.
