AMD responds to USB problems of motherboards with 500 series chipsets
AMD has responded to an issue with 500 series motherboards that periodically causes USB devices such as keyboards, mice, or VR headsets to disconnect. The company reports on Reddit that it is investigating the cause.
AMD reports on Reddit that the company is aware of the problem and that it is looking for additional data. The company is asking for help from the Reddit community. The chip manufacturer says it will contact some Reddit users who have previously reported the problem on the social medium. The company will do so through its official Reddit account, through a private message on that platform.
The company will ask for detailed specifications of affected systems, steps to reproduce the problem and any log files. The company says it will come up with new details as soon as more is known about the problem and its cause. In addition, any user experiencing USB issues is urged to contact AMD Customer Service.
The USB problem came to light earlier. Several Reddit threads have surfaced in recent weeks in which users report that various USB devices lose connectivity periodically. Several possible solutions have been published, although they don’t seem to work for all users. Users can revert their PCIe connections back to PCIe 3.0 or disable ‘C-States’ in the BIOS. However, several users report that this does not completely solve the problems, although the problem is said to be less common.
