AMD Releases Epyc and Ryzen Processors for Embedded Applications
AMD releases the Epyc Embedded 3000 series and the Ryzen Embedded V1000 socs. The Ryzen variant is an apu with a built-in Vega 11 GPU and is used, for example, in slot machines and medical equipment.
AMD makes four variants of the Ryzen Embedded V1000 socs. In all cases, they are quad cores that can work on eight threads. The top model has a Vega 11 GPU, the three other versions have the Vega 8 GPU. The integrated GPUs are similar to the versions in the 2000G desktop PC APUs that AMD recently released.
The Ryzen Embedded Socs are suitable for gaming machines in casinos and arcades, digital billboards, medical equipment and industrial devices, according to AMD. AMD also mentions set-top box gaming as an application. That could indicate that consumer devices are coming with the Ryzen Embedded V1000 socs. Atari stated last year that its upcoming Ataribox console will receive a modified AMD processor with GPU, although there was talk of a Radeon GPU at the time.
Several companies have already announced or released products with the V1000 socs. AMD calls the Esaote MyLab 9 eXP, an ultrasound device that should appear in the third quarter. Quixant and Avantech have already announced casino hardware equipment with the V1000 socs available immediately.

The Epyc Embedded 3000 processors are variants of the Epyc server processors. There will be configurations with up to sixteen cores per socket and up to four sockets. According to AMD, a total of sixteen partners are releasing products based on the new Embedded processors. This concerns motherboards that already have the chips on them, which can be used in servers, medical equipment or digital advertising screens.
