AMD releases budget processors Athlon 220GE and 240GE
AMD is adding two new budget processors to its range. The Athlon 220GE and 240GE are dual cores and have a Vega 3 GPU, just like the previously released Athlon 200GE. The new models have a slightly higher clock speed.
The 220GE has a clock speed of 3.4GHz and the 240GE reaches 3.5GHz. The Athlon 200GE that AMD introduced in September is clocked at 3.2GHz. Apart from speed and price, the new models are the same as their predecessor. AMD gives the new CPUs suggested retail prices of 65 and 75 dollars, ten and twenty dollars more than the entry-level model.
Like the Ryzen processors, the Athlon GE models are based on the Zen architecture and fit on am4 motherboards. In all cases, it concerns dual cores with SMT and an integrated Vega GPU with three compute units. According to AMD, the new 220GE and 240GE are available immediately.
