AMD has released some new details about the Polaris 10 and 11 GPUs. The new slides show that Polaris 11 has 16 CUs and is equipped with a 128-bit bus. There will be an RX 480M with this GPU. AMD also shares some benchmark results of the RX 480 and RX 470.

The released presentation partly contains the same content as the details that AMD announced during the introduction of the Radeon RX 480, but also shows new details. It was already known that the RX 480 has 36 CUs and a 256-bit bus, or the Polaris 10-gpu. The RX 470 also has a Polaris 10-gpu, according to the presentation. It may be a variant that is not fully enabled.

AMD has now revealed that Polaris 11 consists of 16 CUs and has a 128-bit bus. The RX 460 will probably get this GPU. There will also be an RX 480M for laptops with this smaller variant of the Polaris chip. Polaris 11 is good for ‘more than’ 2tflops. Polaris 10 was already known to be good for over 5tflops.

AMD also pits the RX 480 against the R9 380 in the Steam VR Performance test. The new video card scores 6.3 according to the manufacturer, while the old model remains at 3.6. The Windows 10 system on which the test was conducted consists of an Intel Core i7-5960X with 16GB of RAM.

AMD also emphasizes that the performance per watt of Polaris is 2.8 times better than with the current generation. The graphics card maker backs up that claim with 3DMark scores, which can be seen in the attached presentation notes. In those same endnotes, an RX 480M is also listed among the Polaris 11 cards. This is probably a gpu for laptops, the consumption would be a maximum of 35W. AMD compares the GPU with the R9 M280 and while Polaris is faster, the RX 480M consumes much less.

The notes also include Polaris 10 scores, which are based on benchmark results from the RX 470, AMD says. The maximum consumption would be 110W according to the text; the manufacturer compares the card with the R9 270X which consumes up to 180W. The benchmarks were run in Ashes of the Singularity, Hitman and Overwatch.
