AMD quietly introduces Radeon RX 5300M mobile GPU
AMD introduced the Radeon RX 5300M GPU for laptops this week without an official announcement. The specifications are very similar to those of the higher positioned 5500M. The company also comes with Radeon Pro GPUs for the Macbook Pro.
The RX 5300M, like the RX 5500M, has 22 compute units and 1408 stream processors. The memory speed is also unchanged at 14 Gbit/s. However, the 5300M has less gddr6 memory: the gpu has a maximum of 3GB of vram, while the 5500M can have a maximum of 4GB. The memory bandwidth is also somewhat lower at 168GB/s instead of 224GB/s. The RX 5300M has a 96-bit memory bus, while the RX 5500M has a 128-bit memory bus. The fp32 computing power of the 5300M is 4.07tflops, while the 5500M hits about 4.63tflops. The tdp of the RX 5300M is still unknown, but that of the RX 5500M is 85W.
The company also announced two Radeon Pro GPUs this week. These GPUs make their debut in the Macbook Pro 16″, which was announced on Wednesday. The AMD Radeon Pro 5500M contains 24 compute units and 1536 stream processors. The mobile GPU has a maximum of 8GB of gddr6 memory with a speed of 12Gbit/s. GPU also has a 128-bit memory bus. The bandwidth of the memory is 192GB/s. The GPU offers up to 4tflops of fp32 computing power. AMD advertises a peak engine clock of 1300MHz. Presumably this refers to the turbo frequency. the Radeon Pro 5500M is 50W.
The Radeon Pro 5300M is a lower positioned GPU with 20 cu’s and 1280 stream processors. The GPU has 4GB of GDDR6 memory with a speed of 12Gbit/s. The memory bus remains unchanged at 128 bit. The bandwidth is 192GB/s. The GPU has a maximum fp32 computing power of 3.2tflops. The Radeon Pro 5300M also has a peak engine clock of 1250MHz and a TGP of 50W.
AMD says the RX 5300M will be available in laptops from several manufacturers this quarter, along with the previously announced RX 5500M. The Radeon Pro GPUs are now available in the new Macbook Pro 16″ models. These GPUs are not expected to appear in other laptops. Previous Radeon Pro models for laptops were also only used in the Macbook Pro.
