AMD’s revenue has increased significantly in 2020. During the past fiscal year, the company recorded sales of more than $9.7 billion, a new record for the company. In addition, AMD reports that the EPYC Milan server processors will be released in March.

AMD reports that its revenue in fiscal 2020 was about 45 percent higher than in 2019. In addition, the company posted a total profit of $2.49 billion in 2020; an increase of 630 percent from 2019. This is partly due to a write-down on AMD’s income tax, which gives a benefit of $1.3 billion. Excluding this tax break, AMD still doubled its net profit from 2019, based on non-GAAP year results.

The company also announces its figures for the last quarter of 2020. AMD reports that its revenue in the past quarter was about $3.2 billion. That is 16 percent more than a quarter earlier and an increase of 53 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

The manufacturer’s computing and graphics segment, which includes AMD’s Ryzen CPUs and Radeon graphics cards, posted quarterly revenue of $1.96 billion. According to AMD, the turnover of this division has increased by 18 percent compared to the previous quarter and the fourth quarter in 2019. This growth is mainly due to the increased sales of Ryzen processors, the company reports. AMD released its Ryzen 5000 CPUs based on the Zen 3 architecture late last year. For the entire fiscal year, that division posted sales of $6.43 billion, representing about 66 percent of total sales.

The remaining 34 percent came from AMD’s Enterprise, Embedded and Semi-Custom division, whose revenue grew 176 percent in the quarter. According to the company, this is partly due to an increase in sales of EPYC processors and the release of the new PlayStation and Xbox consoles, all of which use AMD chips. Sales for cloud and enterprise also increased compared to the previous quarter.

AMD also reports an increase in earnings in the past quarter. The manufacturer then made a profit of about 1.72 billion dollars. That’s a 948 percent increase from the same quarter in 2019, when the tech company posted a profit of $170 million. This is also partly due to the $1.3 billion tax benefit. Excluding this one-time increase, quarterly profit is approximately $418 million in the last quarter of 2020; an increase of 66 percent compared to the last quarter of 2019.

In a conference call with investors, AMD looks further ahead to the coming quarter. The company anticipates positive results, with expected sales of approximately 3.2 billion. AMD predicts that its annual revenue will increase by 37 percent in 2021. CEO Lisa Su reports, among other things, that the upcoming EPYC Milan CPUs for servers will be released in March. AMD previously announced that these processors will appear in the first quarter of 2021, but the CPU manufacturer did not announce a concrete release date.
