AMD: More Partners Coming Up With New Radeon Cards Brand Names

According to AMD, its partners will announce new brand names in the coming weeks, including the Radeon video cards. This appears to be the result of Nvidia’s alleged program to tie existing gaming brands exclusively to GeForce cards.

Asus announced its Arez brand name for Radeon graphics cards on Tuesday, but AMD announces that its other partners are also coming up with new brand names to market its graphics cards. AMD reports this in a message in which it emphasizes openness, freedom of choice and transparency.

“We are committed to putting premium, high performance graphics cards in the hands of as many gamers as possible and supporting our partners without competing demands,” AMD said. That wording appears to be directed at alleged practices by Nvidia, which, with its Geforce Partners Program, or GPP, would enforce the exclusive linking of partner game brands to GeForce cards. For example, Asus, Gigabyte and MSI would only use Republic of Gamers, Aorus and Gaming X for Nvidia video cards, respectively.

Partners who did not agree to the terms of the program would no longer be eligible for discounts when purchasing Nvidia products, and the GPU maker would also give them a low priority on delivery, according to the rumours.
