AMD would be working on a new video card with two Hawaii XT GPUs on a single pcb. The card would bear the code name Vesuvius and should succeed the Radeon HD 7990 as the most expensive and fastest card with two GPUs.

AMD released its first cards with new Hawaii GPUs at the end of October, the fastest of which is the Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii XT GPU. However, the company has a more powerful model with two Hawaii XT chips in development, claims VR Zone. If this is indeed the case, then the card will have access to 5632 stream processors, 352 tmu’s, 128 rop’s and, possibly, 8GB gddr5 memory.

The map would be codenamed Vesuvius and succeed the Radeon HD 7990, codenamed Malta. That card with two Tahiti XT GPUs was unveiled at the beginning of this year. When Vesuvius should appear is still unknown, but according to VR-Zone development is still in an early phase, so it will probably be months before the release takes place.
