AMD is only releasing the Ryzen 5 5600X3D CPU with six cores at US stores
AMD has released the Ryzen 5 5600X3D CPU. That is the first Ryzen 5 processor with 3D V-Cache. The CPU was announced by an American retail chain, which also says it can sell the CPU exclusively. It is therefore not clear whether the processor will also come to the Benelux.
The Ryzen 5 5600X3D has six cores and twelve threads. The base clock is 3.3GHz, with a boost clock of 4.4GHz. The CPU also has 3MB L2 cache, a total of 96MB L3 cache and is compatible with AM4 motherboards. The CPU has a TDP of 105W.
The American online store Micro Center announced the CPU, not AMD, and says ‘the only source’ of the ‘limited-edition’ CPU. The CPU retails for $229.99. Converted with VAT, this is 255 euros. Micro Center will not sell the processor through its online store, but only through physical stores.
The store expects to have stock for “a number of months.” TechPowerUp sources say that OEMs are also allowed to use the processor for their PCs, so that the CPU may end up with European consumers. The processor is currently the cheapest CPU with 3D V-Cache. Previously this was the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, an octa-core processor with eight cores.
