AMD introduces three Ryzen 3000XT processors and announces A520 chipset

AMD announces three Ryzen 3000XT processors. These are variants of existing desktop processors in the Ryzen 9, 7 and 5 series, with a slightly higher turbo clock speed. The processors will be released on July 7. A520 motherboards will appear in August.

The new Ryzen 9 3900XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT and Ryzen 5 3600XT are variants of the already existing Ryzen 3000X processors with the same numbering. Only the turbo clock speed differs; it is a maximum of 200MHz higher. Such is the case with the Ryzen 7 3800XT; the XT versions of the Ryzen 9 and Ryzen 5 both achieve a 100MHz higher turbo speed than their X counterparts.

AMD recommends pairing the Ryzen 9 3900XT and Ryzen 7 3800XT with all-in-one water cooling with at least a 280mm radiator or a high-performance air cooler that provides equivalent cooling. The manufacturer does not include a cooler with these processors. The Ryzen 5 3600XT is available as a boxed variant with the Wraith Spire cooler.

The Ryzen XT processors are more expensive than the regular versions, which remain on the market. AMD has released recommended dollar prices. The new processors will be available for purchase from 7 July. In May it was already clear that the processors were on the way. Motherboard manufacturer Gigabyte leaked that information.

AMD also announces that motherboards with the new A520 chipset will appear in August. Brands like ASRock, Asus, Biostar, Colorful, Gigabyte and MSI will be releasing them. AMD has not yet shared details about the chipset, but it concerns cheap motherboards positioned below the B550 models. According to previously leaked information, the budget motherboards lack PCI-e 4.0 support, have fewer PCI-e lanes and lack support for overclocking.
