AMD Introduces Third Gen Ryzen Pro CPUs With Additional Security Features

AMD is coming with pro versions of its Ryzen 3000 processors. The CPUs are intended for businesses. In addition, the company comes with Ryzen Pro APUs and a new Athlon Pro CPU. The processors will be released in the fourth quarter of this year. Prices are not yet known.

AMD’s Ryzen Pro 3000 CPUs contain a built-in security co-processor. This chip uses AMD’s GuardMI technology that, among other things, offers protection against cold boot attacks through full system memory encryption. GuardMI also offers a secure boot option to ensure that threats cannot reach critical software. The business processors have several functions that should increase the manageability of the chips. For example, a system administrator can update the firmware of multiple Ryzen Pro CPUs remotely.

The specifications of the Ryzen Pro CPUs are also broadly the same as AMD’s current consumer processors. New is the Ryzen 9 3900 Pro. This CPU has a lower clock speed and a lower TDP than its consumer counterpart, the Ryzen 9 3900X.

AMD also comes with Ryzen Pro APUs with built-in Vega GPU in the form of the Ryzen 5 Pro 3400G and 3400GE with Vega 11 GPU and the Ryzen 3 Pro 3200G and 3200GE with Vega 8 GPU. Unlike the Ryzen Pro models without GPU, these chips are made at 12nm instead of 7nm. Furthermore, the company announces the Athlon Pro 300GE CPU with two cores and four threads. This CPU has a TDP of 35W, a fixed clock speed of 3.4GHz and 5MB of cache.
