AMD has introduced eight desktop APUs, which are part of the Bristol Ridge generation. The apus will first be used in computers from HP and Lenovo and can be divided into copies with a TDP of 35W or 65W.

As was already known, the seventh generation of AMD’s APUs uses Excavator cores and DDR4 memory. The existing 28nm process has also been re-applied. The new models can be divided into models with a TDP of 35W or 65W. The latter variant should, according to the company, offer the same performance as its predecessor with a TDP of 95W.

The 65W version must also be able to offer comparable performance to an Intel i5 6500, according to AMD from a benchmark with PCMark 8. The GPU should offer a higher performance than the Intel variant with a gain of 99 percent in 3DMark 11 The AMD apu compared is the A12-9800 model with a maximum clock speed of 4.2GHz. AMD has not provided any additional information about the GPUs present in the new generation, other than stating that it is an R7 or an R5.

The apus are made for the AM4 socket and will first be present in systems from HP and Lenovo. When AMD will release the APUs separately and what they will cost is not yet known.
