At its Computex presentation, AMD gave a short demonstration of a Radeon Instinct accelerator with a Vega GPU made at 7nm. The card has 32GB hbm2. AMD did not yet provide details about new video cards for gamers.

In the demonstration, AMD had the Vega GPU render a scene in Cinema 4D, with RadeonPro render. No comparison was made with competitor hardware. According to AMD, the 7nm process provides a doubling in power efficiency and a performance improvement of 1.35x. Those claims are not substantiated with benchmarks and AMD does not indicate what exactly it is compared with.

AMD CEO Lisa Su did indicate during the presentation that there will be video cards for gamers that are made at 7nm later, but when that will be is not yet clear. It is also not certain whether AMD will also use the Vega GPU for those cards, it is possible that AMD will make the switch to the new Navi architecture for the RX cards. It is still on the roadmap as a 7nm GPU.

According to David Wang, the new CEO of the Radeon Technology Group, AMD is making great progress with the Navi GPU and the first steps have been taken with a new architecture, which will be made on an improved version of the 7nm process. According to Wang, AMD will consistently release a new GPU every year.
