AMD reports the arrival of a 4800S Desktop Kit. According to previous rumors, this is a Micro-ATX board with processor and more extensive specifications than the previous Desktop Kit.

AMD confirms the arrival of the 4800S Desktop Kit in the fine print on his introduction to Radeon Super Resolution. It states that the product will have support for Smart Access Memory. The company does not provide further details about the desktop kit. In December, there were rumors of a successor to the 4700S Desktop Kit. That predecessor did not support Smart Access Memory. This technology allows processors to access a much larger amount of video memory than is normally possible.

Rumor has it that there are more differences between the 4800S and the 4700S. For example, the upcoming kit would be a Micro-ATX board instead of a Mini-ITX system. The 4800S would also get a PCIe Gen4 interface, while the 4700S has to make do with PCIe Gen2 x2. AMD would be the 4800S board sometime in the next two weeks to introduce. According to VideoCardz, the product would then support AM4 coolers and have an M.2 slot for storage and Wi-Fi. According to Tom’s Hardware produces MSI the desktop kit.

The Desktop Kits are low-power systems with socs from consoles with the integrated RDNA2 GPU disabled. With the 4700S it would be the soc of the PlayStation 5, with the 4800S the soc of the Xbox Series.
