AMD CEO promises better gaming performance Ryzen CPUs via patches
AMD has promised improvement for the disappointing performance of the Ryzen CPUs in games. Performance should be improved via patches yet to be released, especially games that are played at a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
AMD CEO Lisa Su made this known via a series of messages on Reddit during a so-called ama session. According to Su, work is underway to improve the performance of Ryzen CPUs in games. AMD is working with the developers on software improvements, although the company also points out that not all games suffer from performance problems.
The problems mainly occur with games played at a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels; performance is not as expected. Su claims this has to do with the fact that the Ryzen CPUs use a new architecture, called Zen, and developers need more time to get used to it.
According to AMD, about 300 developers are working on optimizations that should improve the gaming performance of Ryzen CPUs. Oxide Games, Bethesda and Sega are known to collaborate with AMD for this. However, no information was released about the availability of such patches.
