AMD has announced that it will be introducing the Ryzen Threadripper series this summer. The top model will have 16 cores and 32 threads. Threadripper is AMD’s new high-end desktop platform that will compete with Intel’s X99 and upcoming X299 platforms.

With the announcement, AMD now only reports that Threadripper is coming in the summer and that the top model has 16 cores and 32 threads. The processor manufacturer aims the chips at demanding desktop users. The platform also offers higher bandwidth for memory and io than current solutions for Ryzen 3, 5 and 7.
