AMD has announced a new version of the FirePro W9100: a model that will be equipped with 32GB instead of 16GB gddr5. The card is intended for workstations, and AMD is aligning its introduction with a FireRender plug-in for 3ds Max.

Apart from doubling the memory, it is the same FirePro as AMD introduced in March 2014: a card with a Hawaii GPU, a memory bus of 512bit wide and a bandwidth of 320GB/s. The FirePro W9100 32GB will be available in the second quarter of this year for a suggested retail price of $ 4999, converted and with VAT 5372 euros. This makes the card 1000 dollars more expensive than the W9100 with 16GB, which AMD continues to offer in addition to the 32GB version.

AMD can claim through the introduction to have the workstation card with the largest amount of memory on the market. At the end of March, Nvidia released a Quadro M6000 with 24GB gddr5, a card with a memory bandwidth of up to 317GB/s and peak singleprecision performance of 7Tflops.

Along with the card, AMD is releasing the pathtracing renderer FireRender plugin for Autodesk 3ds Max.
