Amazon is working on a mobile app that will reward existing customers of the web store if they deliver packages locally. With this delivery method, Amazon believes it can further reduce delivery costs.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the mobile app is currently under development codenamed “On My Way.” In addition to the fact that ordinary citizens can deliver packages in certain cases, Amazon is also thinking of temporarily storing packages in stores, for example. Amazon does not want to confirm the report of the American business newspaper.

It is not yet certain whether Amazon will actually introduce the On My Way app in the US. Also, the necessary practical problems would have to be overcome to enable the delivery of parcels by customers, such as preventing theft and arranging liability.
