Amazon is set to announce its own game streaming service next year that will integrate with Twitch. The tech giant would hire people from major game companies, including Microsoft, to manage the introduction of the new service.

Amazon is looking for people for a “new gaming initiative” within its Amazon Web Services team. This is evident from a vacancy of the company. According to Cnet sources, it is a game streaming service with Twitch integration, which will be announced next year. It is not clear when the presentation will take place.

At the beginning of this year, information was also released about an upcoming game streaming service from Amazon. The Information then reported that the service would be announced at the beginning of 2020 at the earliest. It is likely that Amazon wants to compete with services such as Google Stadia, Microsoft xCloud and PlayStation Now from Sony with its game streaming service.

Twitch integration could mean Amazon will start streaming games to users through the software for that service. It may also be possible to switch from a video stream on Twitch to the game itself. Google also promises such functionality with Stadia and YouTube, but it doesn’t work yet. It is not yet clear whether the Amazon service will contain games or whether players will have to buy them separately. Amazon itself has not made any statements about the arrival of the service.

Amazon acquired Twitch in 2014. On that site, players can stream video footage of games. Users with a Twitch Prime subscription already get free games every month, but they must be installed in order to play.
