Amazon S3 outage causes problems for many websites and services
Amazon is experiencing an outage on its Simple Storage Service, as a result of which several websites and services are also experiencing outages. The problems lie with a data center in the United States. Amazon says it is working on a solution.
According to The Register, the problems have been going on since 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Many services worldwide use Amazon’s S3 storage. Imgur, Medium, Slack, Yahoo webmail, Quora, Trello and Runkeeper, among others, are affected by the problems.
Some websites do not work or work slowly or, for example, no images can be loaded. The website isitdownrightnow.com is also down due to the issues, notes The Verge. That website itself is struggling with images that are not visible due to the malfunction.
The AWS status page initially showed no errors on the specific servers, according to Amazon was also a result of the S3 problems. This has now been resolved and the errors are visible on the status page.
Customers who rely on S3 should be aware of lingering errors, according to Amazon, while a fix is being worked on. Amazon is not commenting on the cause. Via Twitter promises provide the company with updates about the outage.
