Amazon releases thinner and lighter Kindle reader

Amazon has announced a new version of its Kindle e-reader. The book reader is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, and has twice the memory. In addition, Amazon has announced a white version of the Kindle Paperwhite.

Amazon has reduced the weight of the Kindle from 191 to 161 grams and the thickness of the new version is 9.1 mm, where it was 10.2 mm with the old. In addition, the housing has been slightly modified; the edges are less sharp. This makes it easy and comfortable to hold with one hand at any angle for long reading sessions.

The other properties have remained the same. The e-reader will be available in white and black, and Amazon will continue to charge the same price as for the old model: 81.34 euros. The reader comes with the software that Amazon made available in February. It includes a personalized home page and Export Notes for e-mailing notes and selected texts in books.

In addition, Amazon has announced a white variant of the Kindle Paperwhite. The price of this reader, with a resolution of 300ppi, has remained the same at 142.34 euros.
