Amazon raises prices for German Prime subscriptions, but not Dutch ones

Amazon increases the prices of its Prime subscription for most European users, but not for the Dutch. German users pay 89.90 euros annually for their subscription from September, an increase of almost thirty percent.

Amazon raises prices not only in Germany, but also in France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. These are the prices for a Prime subscription that allows customers to receive faster deliveries and use the streaming service. The prices of the Dutch subscription will remain the same, the company says in a statement. “This price change only affects Dutch customers with an Amazon.de Prime membership. The price for customers in the Netherlands with an Amazon.nl Prime membership remains unchanged.” The company does not say whether that is permanent policy or whether prices will rise at a later date.

Prices will increase from September 15, the company writes in an email to customers. The company says to Reuters that it has to do with higher costs and that prices increase due to inflation. The company also says it will offer more content in the future and want to stream faster.

Dutch prices are still very low compared to other European countries. The Dutch pay 2.99 euros per month, but the German subscription increases from 6 euros to 8.99 euros per month, or 69 euros and 89.90 per year. French users will pay 6.99 euros per month, Spanish and Italian 4.99 euros.
