Amazon’s Prime Video service is available for the Apple TV. The maker of the set-top box announced the arrival of the streaming service six months ago and now Amazon has released an update to its app that makes the video service available.

Amazon mentions the appearance of its app for Apple’s tvOS in the changelog of its Prime Video app for iOS. Apple has also published a message about the arrival of the streaming service. Users need a third or fourth generation Apple TV to use Prime Video. Prime Video is one of the few Amazon services also available in the Benelux.

Apple announced at its WWDC developer conference in June that Prime Video would be working on tvOS. At the time, it was not clear when the app would actually be available. Prime Video was still missing from the list of streaming services with an app for Apple TV. The release is especially important in the United States, because about eighty millions of Americans purchase Amazon Prime, of which Prime Video is a part, from the web store.
