Amazon postpones mmorpg New World again, now until August 31
Amazon Game Studios has postponed the mmorpg New World again. The game is now out on August 31, more than a year after its originally planned release date. The developers are still working on end-game features for the game.
The developer says it has come up with a new zone and two game modes that it wants to implement before release. It concerns the Ebonscale Reach zone, a swampy area with cliffs. Here, an exiled empress threatens to build a fleet that could endanger the world.
The two game modes are Expeditions and Outpost Rush. Expeditions is a dungeon-like game mode, where five players can work together to explore caves. Here they can learn about the New World game world and defeat tough enemies. In Outpost Rush, two teams of 20 players each battle each other to maintain control over strongholds and strategic resources. Amazon Game Studios says it is working on even more features, without giving details.
New World was originally supposed to be released in May, but was postponed for a second time to spring 2021 last summer, when the developer said it wanted to work on the mid- and end-game of the game. In the meantime, the developers have made changes to the combat system, players can now fish, and a new region has been added. The closed beta of the game will start on July 20.
New World is a mmorpg set on Aeternum in the Eternal Isle. Players must fight against The Corrupted, choosing between melee or ranged combat and using magic. The PC game costs 40 euros once.
