Amazon launches Microsoft Exchange competitor
Amazon is coming this spring with a competitor for the business version of Gmail and Microsoft Exchange under the name WorkMail. Users can encrypt mail traffic themselves and the focus is on security.
Amazon charges $4 per user per month for WorkMail, which provides email and calendar management software. The mailbox may have a maximum size of 50GB, reports Forbes. The service can only be used by companies and not by individuals. At Amazon, it comes under AWS, the web store’s cloud services.
The American company emphasizes security. Users can encrypt emails themselves with a key themselves or leave the encryption to Amazon. This is done via KMS. WorkMail is compatible with Exchange, which should make it easy for users to switch. Amazon will release the service in the spring.
