Amazon launches digital Dash buttons for one-click buying
Amazon has put digital versions of its physical Dash buttons on its website. The department store automatically creates these kinds of buttons for products that customers have recently ordered or regularly order. Customers can then order the product again with the push of a button.
In addition to the automatic creation of the buttons by Amazon itself, Prime customers can add buttons to a list themselves. This can be done via the ‘Add to your Dash Buttons’ option on the product pages. Logged in Prime customers will see the list of buttons on the Amazon page and in the app, where they can add, remove, rename or rearrange buttons.
A click on the button ensures an immediate order. The functionality is therefore equal to that of the physical Dash buttons, which Amazon announced in 2015. Customers must purchase these for $5, an amount they will receive back when they use the button for an order. The intent of the buttons is to hang them near where customers use the product, such as a Dash button to order detergent from the washing machine.
