Amazon is testing cheaper ‘Prime Lite’ subscription in India
Amazon has started testing a cheaper Prime Lite subscription in India. The subscription costs a third less than a regular Prime subscription. In return, Prime Video includes advertisements.
The Prime Lite subscription costs 999 rupees per year for testers, which is approximately 11.30 euros. That was the price of Prime in India till last year, says OnlyTech. In the meantime, the price of Prime has been increased to 1499 rupees per year, equivalent to approximately 17 euros. This makes Prime Lite about a third cheaper.
Screenshots published by OnlyTech show that, among other things, customers do not receive free one-day delivery, but only within two days. Prime Video is limited to two devices and has ads. Prime Music, Prime Gaming and free e-books are also not included in the subscription. It is unknown whether Amazon will release the limited Prime subscription in more countries later.
