Amazon is testing cheaper ‘Prime Lite’ plan in India
Amazon has started testing a cheaper Prime Lite subscription in India. The subscription costs a third less than a regular Prime subscription. In return, there are advertisements in Prime Video, among other things.
The Prime Lite subscription costs 999 rupees per year for testers, which is about 11.30 euros. That was the price of Prime in India till last year, says OnlyTech. In the meantime, the price of Prime has been increased to 1499 rupees per year, which is about 17 euros. This makes Prime Lite about a third cheaper.
Screenshots published by OnlyTech show that customers do not get free delivery within one day, but only within two days. Prime Video is limited to two devices and has ads. Prime Music, Prime Gaming and free e-books are also not included in the subscription. It is unknown if Amazon wants to release the limited Prime subscription in more countries at a later date.
