Amazon introduces Buy with Prime, which allows other merchants to take advantage of Amazon’s payment, delivery and returns platform for Prime subscribers. The service will start by invitation in the United States.

With Buy with Prime, online stores can Integrate Amazon’s Prime service into their site, in addition to their own check-out environment. Prime subscribers can then click the Buy with Prime button, checkout and have their products delivered through Amazon Prime, and also take advantage of Amazon’s return policy.

Webshops can participate if they register and receive an invitation. Initially, it concerns American online stores that participate in Fulfillment by Amazon and thus already have access to the company’s logistics network. Later in 2022, other online stores can also integrate the service, Amazon promises, and they do not have to sell via the Amazon.com trading platform. It is not known whether Amazon also has plans to make the service available internationally.

The costs for an online store depend on several factors, according to Amazon. The company gives examples of the dimensions and weight of packages, the average selling price and the number of products per order via Buy with Prime.

The move seems primarily intended to compete with Shopify. This software takes the technical work and security for checkout off the hands of online stores.
