Amazon announces Fire tablet for 60 euros

Amazon has announced four new tablets with different screen sizes. The cheapest model costs 60 euros, but can be sold for 10 euros less if the buyer purchases several Fire HD tablets at the same time. The tablets show advertising by default.

The budget tablet in the new Fire series has a 7″ screen with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels. The device runs on a quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.3GHz. There is 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage memory and a micro-SD card. card slot available The Fire supports WiFi-n, has a mono speaker and can be charged and connected to external devices via micro USB.

The 10.6 mm thick tablet is mainly due to its low price: 60 euros at Amazon Germany, which, incidentally, does not yet deliver the new tablets to the Benelux. Amazon also announced 8″ and 10.1″ Fire HD models. These both have a screen resolution of 1280×800 pixels and a MediaTek quadcore with a clock speed of 1.5GHz. The tablets support WiFi ac, have stereo speakers and are 7.7 mm thick. The 8 “tablet comes in an 8GB and 16GB version on the market and costs 160 and 180 euros respectively. The 10.1” model will receive either 16GB with a price of 200 euros, or 32GB for 230 euros. Again there is the surcharge of 15 euros for the ad-free versions in Germany.

Amazon’s fourth tablet is the Fire Kids Edition, which, unlike the rest, does not show any advertising on the lockscreen by default. This 7″ tablet is sturdier, costs $120 and comes with a ‘worry-free warranty’, with Amazon promising to replace devices that break within two years free of charge. Amazon offers one year of free FreeTime Unlimited with access to games, e-books and videos with this model.
