All OPPO smartphones will now receive security updates for three years, the manufacturer says. The manufacturer has promised two years of updates so far. The cheaper phones will get at least a new Android version during the lifetime of the device.

The entire OPPO line-up will now receive security updates for three years, OPPO says in response to questions from us.. The security updates come every three months, the manufacturer says. Only the Find X series of smartphones will receive monthly updates.

This means that smartphones from OPPO receive updates longer than those from some other manufacturers. OnePlus, from the same parent company as OPPO, guarantees security updates for its cheapest models for two years. For more expensive models, the manufacturer uses three years. Samsung guarantees updates on all its newer smartphones for four years.

OPPO already announced last week that the Find X3 series would receive longer updates than its predecessors. That phone will at least get Android 12 and 13 and security updates until March 2024.
